The name “Maligano” comes from the small village near where it is mined.

How it Forms:

• It forms from volcanic brecciated material

• Fragments of sediment and minerals are naturally fractured

• Over time, they are cemented together by silica-rich fluids

• The unique colour patches are caused by varying mineral content
